The Virtual Reality and Real time Computing lab (VR & RC lab) of Computer Science and Engineering Department in VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology, Hyderabad was established in January 2008 with guidance by General Secretary of V N R V J I E T, Dr. D. Nageswara Rao. The laboratory is mainly involved in the modeling and animation of three dimensional inhabited Virtual worlds.
The centre has a wide breadth of technical knowledge and hardware resource to tackle 3D Virtual requirements. We have a highly skilled Project management and development team and offer specialized turnkey solutions including Software development for simulation, real time environment modeling with human characters and Quadrupeds.
• Driving Simulators
We design & develop complete Simulation Training Solutions & Real-time 3D databases with the aim of delivering quality products and services. Our mission is to provide realistic & innovative simulator based training solutions to a variety of industries: corporate, government - transportation, road safety institutions and driver training schools.
It offers a wide range of Driving Simulators for light vehicles with or without Motion Platforms that are scientifically designed to train and evaluate drivers in a safe environment.
Features:
Car Driving Simulators are Training & Evaluation Systems which are used for imparting Basic driver training as well as Defensive driver training to drivers. They are developed using real vehicle parts including steering wheel, gears, brake and accelerator in order to provide a real driving environment. The controls emulate a real vehicle with actual driving controls including forward & reverse gears for Reverse driving simulation. Vehicle controls are designed as plug and play and are interchangeable to suit vehicle type and can be customized to suit any vehicle and environment.
The simulation responds to instructor controlled parameters representing a range of weather conditions like rain, fog, day and night effects etc. Limitations and obstructions caused on the driving route by moving and stationary traffic, people movement, truck and animal movement are also incorporated.
Various driving databases like City, Highway, Village and Hill based on Indian scenario feature a full range of driving areas to effectively teach the course requirements. Weather and daylight conditions are selectable for additional training opportunities. All roadways, intersections, road signs, signals and road markings have been designed as per Indian Roads & traffic laws, thus you can be assured of a realistic driving experience. A systematic objective evaluation report can be printed at the end of each training session. Record and replay feature is also available for self assessment.
These simulators provide a high degree of realism, with the ability to create various scenarios from the Instructor Operator Station. The design flexibility of the simulator provides the benefits of being a cost effective method for training and testing drivers in the training academies, driving schools and government transport organizations.
Visuals:
Computer Generated 3D scenarios, under different situations and weather conditions, provide realistic visuals depicting what an operator would actually see from a vehicle cabin. A Virtual Environment with roads, shops, flyovers, vehicles, traffic lanes, people, animal, speed breakers, and traffic lights reflects an accurate representation of city conditions, highway conditions, etc.
Modeling:
Dynamic behavioral modeling of the driving and environmental conditions related to vehicle dynamics and High fidelity math models correctly simulate operations of a vehicle with full collision detection in a 3-D environment.
Audio:
The environment is made even more immersive through the use of high fidelity audio systems that deliver stereoscopic surround sound. Audio system combined with real life like visuals provide a wholly immersive atmosphere to make the training module a real learning experience.

Training Options:
Simulator comes with stock of driving scenarios and options to customize specific client requirements. This gives clients flexibility to provide basic, to intermediate and expert levels of training.
Instructor Station:
The instructor can be provided with a separate view that enables him to see the driver performance and control, record and replay exercises.

Vehicle parameters, route and environment settings, city and highway roads, obstacles, and traffic density settings can all be configured in various permutations and combinations to achieve a vast multitude of exercises for the enhanced training of the operators.

Training Objectives: Simulator has been designed to meet the following training objectives:

1. Operational level training in all essential aspects of vehicle operation.
2. Provide a platform for training as per local laws and conditions.
3. Following Road signs and signals as per laws of the land.
4. Emphasis on Driver Safety and reduction of Accident Risk and cost.
5. Familiarization with the actual controls of the car and training under different environmental and terrain conditions, e.g. - rain, fog, uphill, downhill, etc.
6. Reduced overall training time as there is faster assimilation of new drivers due to “almost life like” non destructive training on simulator.
7. Ability to practice hazardous or life-threatening scenarios repetitively that would be dangerous and impractical to practice ‘live’.
8. Provide a mean for objective performance evaluation of the trainee.

1. AX_9000 - Real Car simulator (With 3D motion)


 AX_9000 is an Interactive training simulator designed to teach, assess, and reinforce positive driving habits for all types of light vehicle drivers. AX_9000 is an affordable & fully interactive driving training simulator, which reduces training time and costs substantially. AX_9000 is successfully used for training and evaluating drivers in various driving schools and road safety organizations in India.
AX_9000 Driving Simulators are unlike any other training, testing, and development tool available today. It provides the benefit of training and testing drivers on potentially risky on-the-road scenarios and difficult climatic conditions like rain, fog, snow that were impossible to be created in real life thus saving time, training cost and lives.

 


2. AX_9100 - Economy Car Simulator (Without 3D motion)
The AX 9100 Car Driving Simulators provide both money saving and environmental friendly solutions, without compromising quality. This light weight and highly portable system uses Acceleration and braking controls, rain, snow, fog environmental effects and also day and night time scenarios.
The trainers can test reactions to different scenarios by interactively changing the controls while driving in the simulator.
3. AX_9200 - Formula Car Simulator


This model is designed to offer the training in a formula car on the Race Track. This simulator has provision for the user to participate in racing with Virtual environment.

 

SPONSORED PROJECT:

We have undertaken a development project sponsored by X_Design Ventures, Hyderabad www.xdesignventures.com which has collaboration with Autosim, Norway www.autosim.no
A brief description of the project:
This project is aimed to develop Indian scenarios/terrains in 3-D visual database, and run in the automotive driving simulators. The driving training can be offered to simulate various types of motor vehicles such as car, bike, truck, bus, and so on. Currently Formula one race car and mini car are interfaced and integrated with the Simworld software. The 3D Motion platform is integrated to the simulator to create the real time driving effects. Till now 15 driving lessons are designed for learners by using the specially created terrains such as RACE TRACK, TANK BUND. The software team builds various scenarios for the given terrains with special effects like audio prompts, text prompts, and alert messages.
