The Department of ECE was founded in 1995 and is recognized by JNTU Hyderabad as a centre for R&D activities. The research Centre is of internationally acclaimed standards, predominantly in the areas of Communications, Signal Processing, Microelectronics and IoT. The Department has 59 well qualified and experienced faculty with 14 doctorates and 33 faculty are pursuing their doctoral degrees. Most of the faculties are associated with Research and Consultancy Cell (RCC). The RCC comprises of RFID and WSN Lab, Virtual Reality Lab, Machine Vision Lab. Presently, the Department has an intake of 240 Students for UG programme and an intake of 18 students for PG programme in VLSI System Design and Embedded Systems respectively. The department indulges in cutting edge research in the areas of Sensor Networks, Wireless Networks, Wireless Communications, Internet of Things, Cognitive Radio, Speech/Audio, Video and Biomedical Signal Processing.
The Department has 18 well equipped Laboratories, catering to the fields of Communications, Microprocessors, Microcontrollers, Image Processing, VLSI System Design including Digital, Analog and Mixed Signal processing with latest FPGA kits, Synopsys and Mentor Graphics tools. The Department received grants of Rs. 312.30 Lakhs for the last five years from various funding agencies like AICTE, UGC, DST, DIT, Ananth Technologies, X-Design Ventures etc. The faculty of our Department has 289 papers published in various peer reviewed, high indexed journals and 200 conference publications since 2012. The Department is known for its efficiency and holds a strong reputation. The Department periodically organizes various workshops, guest lectures and FDP programmes for keeping abreast of the developments in the various fields and to make the students industry ready. The Department aims primarily at excellence not only in theoretical but also in experimental research through academic projects in various fields. The Department of ECE is recognized as "Research Centre" by JNTU Hyderabad in 2017-18. All faculty members are life time members of various technical chapters like ISTE, IEEE and IETE.
